On behalf of the  Conference Committee, we invite you to participate in the NZFSS Conference on 10 - 14 December, in Nelson
We welcome the submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentations relevant to the conference theme: “Ka
mua , ka muri: Looking back, moving forward”

The Conference will consist of several broad scientific sub-themes and special sessions. Upon submission,  please select one of the following sub-themes or sessions that best suits your presentation.

While efforts will be made to accept an abstract for the presentation type selected in the submission process, the NZFSS2018 Committee reserves the right to allocate a different presentation type if more appropriate and if programme space is limited.


Abstract format and guidelines:
- Titles should ideally be <15 words and should reflect the topic area, key finding or implication of the work.
Abstracts should:
- Cover the aim or hypothesis, research approach, key result(s), conclusion and implications.
- Be no more than 200 words (excl title, author affiliations).
- Be clear, concise, written in plain English and proof-read.  The conference committee reserve the right to reject abstracts that do not meet a basic quality standard of writing.

Presentation Types
Abstracts may be submitted for one of the following presentation types:

Oral: If your abstract is accepted as an oral presentation you will have 12 minutes to present followed by 3 minutes for discussion and questions.
Speed talk:  If your abstract is accepted as a speed talk you will have 5 minutes for your presentation. Your powerpoint will consist of 10 slides automated to advance at
30 second intervals. 
Poster: If your abstract is accepted as a poster, you will be required to print a poster.  Posters should be no larger than portrait A0 (841mm width x 1189mm height).  The poster display boards are Velcro compatible and Velcro fixers will be provided to all poster presenters at the conference.

Notification of Acceptance:
Notifications of acceptance will be sent via e-mail to the submitting author by the ..............

Conditions of Submission:
Late submissions will not be accepted.
A condition of acceptance is that at least one author presents at the conference.
The presenting author will be required to register for the Conference to ensure their abstract(s) is included in the final programme. Deadline for presenting author registration is ........ Similarly, no speaker fee is paid to authors or presenters.
It is the responsibility of the submitting author to ensure the accuracy of the content, spelling, 
grammar and formatting of the abstract, as it will be published as it is submitted. 
By submitting an abstract, you also grant the Committee permission to publish the abstract and presentation in the Conference proceedings in hard copy and/or electronic format.
